MUA Collection

Hi everyone,

Hope you're all OK.

I decided to have a clear out of my make-up collection today (well it ended up being a 'let's look at all the pretty things I have' couple of hours and not much clearing out was done!!) and I came across a ton of MUA make-up. Now obviously I knew I had some products but I didn't realise how big my collection was or how much I love MUA. I'm a Mac girl at heart and probably always will be but for a drug store product and for the price, the MUA line is pretty amazing, so I thought I'd share my collection with you.

I haven't swatched it all cos there's LOADS but I've done as many pictures as I could without it taking hours so here goes...

Heaven and Earth Pallet

I thought I'd start off with the most hyped about pallet in the MUA line, the Heaven and Earth pallet. Now, this is raved about as a dupe for the Urban Decay Naked Pallet and as I have both, I feel I am in a good position to judge! It doesn't beat the Naked Pallet, but seriously - was it ever going to?? But it does the job that the Naked Pallet was invented for - creating nude and smoky looks. The Heaven and Earth pallet does it beautifully, all the shades are beautiful shimmers, go on nice and smoothly, are workable and there is minimal fall out (although as with any eye shadow, there is some). Here's a pic of it...

This pallet is part of the Professionals range and so is only available at the larger Superdrugs (and annoyingly, is not available at mine so I have to order online or buy when I go home to Leeds - grrrr!!!).

Starry Night Pallet

All of my comments above stand with regards to the quality of this pallet, the colours are lovely and pigmented and it's just fab if you want to create a more metallic/silvery kind of look - perfect for a night out! All the colours in this pallet are grey/silver/blue's apart from there are a couple of nice purple and pinks in there as well. Fabulous and is my second favourite of the MUA pallets, behind one I'm going to show later on in this post...

Here's what it looks like...

Dusk til Dawn Pallet

Again, an amazing pallet. The MUA eyeshadow pallets just seem to be flawless, really amazing colours and so so cheap. I think the ones at this size are £4.00 which for 12 eye shadows is pretty amazing! The shadows in this pallet are again shimmery, very pigmented and just lovely. Kind of similar to the Heaven and Earth pallet with lots of browns but they've added a gorgeous midnight blue, a dark purple and this amazing green colour. Just amazing!!

Immaculate Collection Pallet

OK, so here's the biggie... the Immaculate Collection... This is a collection of eye shadows that are a mixture of shimmers, glitters and matt colours. There is a bronze colour in this pallet which is to die for!! I actually have it as an individual colour and I use it all the time for a metallic coppery look on night's out, lush! I ordered this online when they had an offer on, I think it was something like spend £8.00 and get the Immaculate Collection pallet for free, so that's what I did and and it's just beautiful.

Here's what it looks like - I don't think the pictures will do it justice...

Individual Eye Shadows

OK, on to the individual pots. I own a grand total of 15 of these and they are £1 each - the pots are massive as well, you get 2g of product. I have a range of matt finishes and pearl finishes. There's not much else I can say cos I just have tonnes of them, but I do use them almost as much as I use my Mac shadows which is a LOT! As I have some quite special colours in my MUA collection, I tend to use them on nights out as they are colours that I wouldn't tend to wear through the day, i.e. bright greens/purples etc.. you'll see what I mean!! Here they are...

The matt black is a really good dupe for the Mac matt black shadow (it's called Carbon if you don't know, but I think most avid make-up collectors tend to have it!!).

Pigments

I only have two of these and I think they're a relatively new addition to the MUA line. I've only used one of them and it was really nice. I applied it with a damp brush over my Urban Decay Primer Potion and it stayed on for hours, really lovely. I just patted it into place on my eyelid and blended it out, gorgeous. Can't fault any of the eye products to be honest!!

Here's the two I have, I bet you won't be able to see the colours (damn you camera/bad lighting!!)

Eye Liners

I have a total of 5 of the eyeliners and they are lovely, every one of them. I have a blue that is gorgeous with my blue eyes, I tend to use on my lower lashline, just at the outer corner and it's lovely. They do bleed a little after a while although I think that's partly because I'm a little oily under my eye area and my eyes do water sometimes. I have problems getting Smoulder by Mac to stay put so can't expect miracles from a £1 eyeliner!!

The other colours I have are all gorgeous metallic colours. I feel I need to mention the one called Gold Nugget (the one in the middle of the pic) which is a stunning coppery colour, it's just beautiful.

Here's the ones I have...

Lipsticks

I have three in the range and I like them, they are quite creamy and apply really well. I have shades 4, 7 and 12 and here's what they look like. Shade 4 is quite sheer and is almost like a lipgloss, the others are more pigmented but still have quite a gloss to them, Shade 12 in particular has tonnes of sparkle and glitter in it - gorgeous!! I really like them and wear them quite often.

Shade 4

Shade 7

Shade 12

Blusher

And last, but by no means least is my little lonely blusher. I only have one of the MUA blushers, mainly because I wasn't blown away by mine, the colour in the pan is a lovely Barbie/bubble gum pink but it goes on a little sheer for my liking. I may buy a couple of the other colours to test them out in the future and I'd definitely use this again, but it's not my favourite.

Here's what it looks like...

So that's my MUA collection, hope you enjoyed it. I don't want to come across as being a 'high end' only kind of blogger as my collection consists of an equal amount of both high and low end products and I certainly have a lot of MUA which is mainly £1 an item!!

Anyway, let me know what you think. Do you have any MUA products? If so, what's your absolute fave?

Haul!!

Hi everyone!

I'm on a massive roll tonight with my blogs, so here's a medium sized haul for you. As I mentioned in my previous post, I was in Leeds at the weekend so decided to take advantage of all the lovely shops (I live in Scarborough and there's not much there shop-wise to be honest!!). I didn't buy everything this weekend as I was in Leeds a couple of weeks ago as well so it is a collected haul over a couple of trips. Anyway, I'll just jump straight in...

Lush Sunnyside Bubble Bar - £3.50 for 100g

So, I popped into Lush and picked up with amazing 'Sunnyside' bubble bar and I am impressed so far. You can tell by the picture that it is golden and glittery and just the prettiest thing ever!! I can't wait to use this, apparently it's like liquid gold when it's in the bath - what could be more luxurious than that?!?!?!

Here's what Lush says...

"Sunnyside has managed to smuggle two kinds of orange oil into its golden clutches. Two! There's sweet wild orange oil AND tangerine oil! Not only are these fragrant and zesty, they are also gently toning on the skin and are among the most beneficial oils for mood boosting. Crumble a glittery chunk into the bath and watch as the water magically turns into liquid gold... ooooooh."

Stila Bronzing Powder in 'Shade 2' - Should have been £14.99 but I got it from TK Maxx for £3.99!!

I've not used this yet (to be fair, I haven't really had a chance to use anything from this haul - well a couple I have!!), but first impression is that it's lovely and pigmented, not cakey, really nice shade for my skin tone. The packaging is lovely as well, love the gold!

I didn't realise that TK Maxx sold Stila products but they had quite a lot when I was there - although I am aware that the stock of TK Maxx varies from store to store.

I will no doubt be writing a review on this when I've had a chance to really test it out.

Superdrug Vitamin E Moisturising Night Cream and Skin Oil - on offer at 2 for £3.99

I've heard a couple of beauty bloggers raving about these products recently so thought for the price, I'd give them a try. I haven't used the skin oil yet but I used the night cream last night and I have to say that my skin felt gorgeous this morning so I will be continuing to use it. Superdrug have quite a few products in this range including a Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish dupe which I think I'll be purchasing as well. Watch this space on this range, it seems to be amazing! Oh and it smells gorgeous as well, I want to say Shea Butter but it doesn't say that on the packaging so I'm not 100% - does contain horse chestnut extract though... hmmmm...

Boots Botanics Soothing Eye Make Up Remover - £3.99 for 150ml

I used this for the first time last night (and this morning) to remove my eye make up. My initial thoughts were that I liked it, it didn't sting my eyes although I did manage to get it in my eye and my vision went slightly cloudy for a few minutes and then was fine. It did dry out quite quickly on my cotton pad but not sure if I just didn't use enough (I was quite cautious with it being oily). I did have some mascara under my eyes when I woke up this morning but again think it could be because I didn't quite use it properly last night. I'll definitely be continuing with this as I do really like it so I will let you know if I continue to like it!

Neutrogena Visibly Clear 2-in-1 Wash/Mask

I can't actually remember how much this was but I'm sure it was less than £3 (I got it from Sainsbury's and think it was on offer). I haven't used this yet but again have heard great things about it. It can be used as a face wash every day or can be applied more heavily and left on the skin as a face mask a couple of times a week. One of many products that I will be testing out and reviewing at a later date. Not much more I can say about it at the mo though...

Boots Coconut & Almond Leave-In Conditioner - £1.39 for 150ml

I already use the matching shampoo and conditioner so thought I'd pick this up as a quick easy extra conditioner/detangler as when I have worn my hair curly (it's naturally curly and I straighten it or just leave it to curl) it is very knotty when I have washed it. So my theory is that this spray will just help get the tangles out without me ripping a brush through and damaging it. Smells gorgeous, as it says on the tin - coconut and almond - yum!!

Neutrogena Multi-Defence Nigh Moisturiser - Usually £7.00, got it on offer for £1.89 from Morrisons!

Now, I know I've already listed a night cream above but the saving was just so huge on this I couldn't not get it. I've not used this before but I am generally a fan of the Neutrogena skin care range so I'm hoping I'll love this. Only comment so far is it smells a little odd, really lightly perfumed which is good really for a face product. Watch this space for a review...

Mac Cream Colour Base in Movie Star Red - £17.50 for 3.2g

Now the first thing I will say is that this colour has been discontinued (well I'm assuming so as it's not on the Mac website anymore!) so I had to get it on Ebay. On first glance this a very scary looking blush but if you build it up gradually with a stipling brush it is AMAZING. I have used it twice and I adore it already. Lasts all day and the only way I can describe how it looks is if you've been out on a cold day and your cheeks are rosy when you come inside, it's like that - gorgeous. It's a satin finish so gives you a gorgeous dewy look to your cheek as well - I don't tend to use a highlighter if I am using this.

If you can get hold of this, I would highly recommend it - just go easy or you'll look like a clown!!

So that's the end of my (very long) haul, hope you enjoyed it. I'm going to start doing a monthly empties post which have become very popular so am currently using up a lot of the products that have been hanging round my collection for a long time! Hopefully I'll have this up some time next month but will be posting other things meanwhile.

Hope you've all had a fab weekend and that you're all well.

Spoilt? Me? NEVER!!!

Hi everyone,

So... myself and my husband ventured over to Leeds this weekend to see some friends and we stayed at my husband's parents house so we could see them and spend some time with them etc.

My husband has lots of hobbies, one of which is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu so off he trots happily to train on Saturday morning leaving me alone with my in-laws - which is fine by me as I think they're fabulous.

Anyway, we decided we would head into Wakefield to the new Trinity Walk shopping centre and have a look around (and pop into Debenhams for my mother in law to get her free Clinique mascaras - see my previous post!!).

So we head into Lush and my in-laws were so so so kind and decided to treat me to a pressie!! YAY!! So I'm being all shy and looking at miniature shower gels and being very aware that Lush isn't the cheapest of places to shop (I know as I have a good portion of their range in my bedroom/bathroom!!). So my father in law is having none of it and picks up the massive 'Celebrate Box' and marched off to the till to purchase it for me. It's official, I'm am the most spoilt person ever!! Honestly, I do know how lucky I am to have such amazing in-laws.

So here's the box...

And here's what I got inside...

The Olive Branch Shower Gel - 100g

Fair trade olive oil, fresh mandarins, bergamot oil and vine leaves. We've crammed the whole Mediterranean diet into this bottle! Superbly softening, reassuring gel for body and hair.

Happy Hippy Shower Gel - 100g

Squeeze yourself a fresh grapefruit breakfast from this bottle. Get up, get started, get zest for success. A mellow yellow hair and body gel.

Honey I washed The Kids Soap - 100g

Topped with honey comb (mine wasn't but I have got one already which is!) and made with honey water and aloe vera extract for a kind, creamy lather, it's scented with a toffee, caramel honey fragrance with a touch of sweet orange essential oil.

Karma Soap - 100g

Rammed full of exotic Karma perfume, with uplifting sweet orange oil and refreshing pine, blended with heady notes of patchouli and elemi essential oils, to leave skin scented with a far-out fragrance.

Sea Vegetable Soap - 100g

Topped with skin softening seaweed and coarse sea salt, and scented with an exotic blend of lime and lavender essential oils, this beautiful ocean blue bar is like holding a holiday in your hands.

Thanks everyone at Lush!!

So that's everything I got. The box as a set was £21.50. I can't wait to use all my gorgeous new Lush goodies!!

So just wanted to say a huge thank you to my mother and father in-law for being so kind and treating me to this, it's amazing of them so THANK YOU!!!

What are your favourite Lush products?

Dreamies!!

Hi everyone,

So this post is going to be a bit different. It is a review, but it is for the Dreamies cat treats (I know, I know, but keep reading...!). I just felt I had to say something about these as every cat owner I know (including myself) says that their cat is absolutely obsessed with these.

My cats are no exception...

So first of all, let me introduce you to my two pussy cats:

Charlie who is five...

And Carlson who is 4...

They are obsessed with the Dreamies treats, as soon as they hear the bag rattling they run straight over and they pretty much swallow them whole!! They come in a range of flavours and so far they've all been winners!!

Here's Charlie enjoying the Duck flavour ones...

The best thing about these treats is that they have only 2 calories per treat so you know that you don't have to worry about your cat getting fat and you don't feel like you're neglecting their diet if they have a few as a treat.

They're fab and I guarantee your cat will love you forever if you buy him/her a bag!!

Hope you're enjoyed this (slightly different) review, let me know if you'd like to see Charlie or Carlson feature in any more of my blogs!!

NOTD

Hi everyone,

So I have been absolutely loving bright colours on my nails recently and looking through my ridiculously large nail varnish collection I came across this gorgeous blue that I had bought ages ago and have never worn. It's by Miss Sporty which is not usually a brand that jumps out to me but the colour of this nail varnish must have attracted me as I bought it!

The only thing I don't like about this nail varnish is that it doesn't go on very easily, it needed a good few coats and was just generally hard work/went everywhere etc. But after cleaning up with some nail varnish remover on a cotton bud, it looks really nice.

It's such a pretty colour, like a purply/blue colour - really nice. I'm not sure what the actual name is as it just isn't anywhere on the packaging, but if they still do it it will be easy to spot on the stand! I've noticed a few other bloggers are liking their blue nail polishes at the moment and I just happened to be wearing it as well so thought I'd share it with you.

Let me know what you think!

I'm also really pleased as I have had over 100 views of my blog, which isn't many to the more 'longer established' bloggers out there but to me it's massive, so thank you to everyone who came to visit me!
